RIDE DESCRIPTION

This is the one day a year when we can ride our bicycles from one train station to another, then take the train back that just happens to go by Mugs Away Saloon whose patrons, (and MANY others) ‘moon’ the Amtrak trains that go by throughout the day & night!

Our journey will begin and end at the Anaheim Amtrak Train Station.  In the morning after you check in you will be able to load 1 bag with a change of clothes and 1 small cooler on the truck.  Once in San Juan Capistrano you will trade your bike for your bag and cooler.

We start at the Anaheim Amtrak Train Station next to Edison Field.  From there we hop onto the Santa Ana River Bike Trail to Huntington Beach/Newport Beach where we have our first SAG stop.  We then continue South on Pacific Coast Highway for a beautiful scenic ride through Newport Beach, Corona Del Mar, Laguna Beach then East through Dana Point and finally North into San Juan Capistrano.

Do be cautioned that the route along PCH is heavily traveled by cars, trucks and SUV’s and is somewhat narrow going through some of the quaint towns along the beach.  There are also three moderate hills that you will have to climb.

The distance from Anaheim to San Juan Capistrano is 40 miles. For those of us that want a little more excitement, there is an additional 10 mile loop option that takes us to Mugs Away Saloon where the ‘mooning’ and other festivities take place.

The SJC train station is surrounded by restaurants & little shops.  It is also, directly across from the San Juan Capistrano Mission.  We will be boarding the 2:14 train, so you will have plenty of time to change, eat & see the sights!

PLEASE NOTE:

 *      Your bike will be loaded onto the truck on a first come first served basis.

 *      You will not be able to but the bag and cooler back onto the truck carrying your bike back to Anaheim, you will need to carry them with you and on the train.  (Keep this in mind when you decide how much you want to pack)!!

 *      You will need a picture ID to board the train.

 *      The train has a snack bar but the food, sodas, beer & wine are a little pricey.  (These are items you may want to pack in your ice chest).

 *      Your participation in any and all of the festivities involved with this annual event is of your own free will.  You are responsible for yourself!  (This means you can only sue yourself if something goes wrong).

 *      This is a rain or shine event, no refunds.
